providing relief for severely disabled orphans in Borovichi Russia
Benefits from this year's tournament
The Borovichi orphanage in Northern Russia has a separate wing dedicated to
severely disabled children. These children are nearly forgotten. Little
financial aid is available for them. There are simply not enough children
to bring attention, let alone funding to their plight. Less than 20
children are kept in this isolated area. Separated from the healthy
children, they lie in pain and silence - often alert minds trapped inside
severely physically disabled bodies. The paint peels on the walls, the
broken windows let in the harsh Russian weather. And they lie there. No
stimulation, certainly no therapeutic equipment. The staff of the
Borovichi home do their best to help these children, but without adequate
facilities, spirits are very low.
The ninth annual Fore the Children Annual Golf Classic will dedicate its
proceeds to transform the living conditions of these special needs children
by making extensive repairs to this wing and renovate as many of the
deteriorating structures as possible. We want these children to experience a
therapy swing, to look at bright murals on the wall, to have their rooms
filled with music, to have soft clothing and nice clean mattresses, and
adequate bathroom facilities. These children's needs do seem overwhelming
but together we can make a difference. This humanitarian effort exemplifies
the Frank Foundation belief that by working with one child at a time, the
otherwise daunting task of helping all the children becomes manageable.
100% of the proceeds of this year's tournament will be directed towards this effort.
